Student leadership

Student leadership

Student leadership helps young people find their voices, participate in decision-making, and understand their rights and responsibilities as active citizens. It helps students have a real impact on their learning and school environment and prepares them to participate meaningfully in their community.

Students can be leaders in the classroom, through their actions in the playground, through their support for others, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or local community events or projects.

Vision Statement

We are positive role models who advocate for, and encourage the involvement of, the Chifley College Shalvey Campus community.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to:

1.    Ask for and address student concerns and opinions;

2.    Demonstrate and promote safe, respectful behaviour;

3.   Be ambassadors for the Shalvey community both in and out of school;

4.    Promote the school and its activities; and

5.    Build school spirit.

The Action Plan:

1.   To ask for and address student concerns and opinions by:

- Managing the school suggestion box;

- Conducting student surveys; and

- Collecting feedback after events.

2.  To demonstrate and promote safe, respectful behaviour by:

- Announcing and rewarding student achievements at assemblies; and

- Supporting the student reward program.

3.  To be ambassadors for the Shalvey community both in and out of school by:

- Always wearing our full school uniform with pride; and

- Speaking up about issues and concerns within the Shalvey community.

4.  To promote the school and its activities by:

- Promoting SRC events on social media and at whole school assemblies; and

- Keeping the school community updated on SRC activities.

5.  To build school spirit by:

- Running whole school student wellbeing events and activities;

- Promoting House chants for sporting events; and

- Ensuring the student voice is heard by the School Executive.
